Outfit of the Day: Resurrected.

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

I was looking back on this blog and realized that I haven’t done one of these in so long.   I miss it!  So here it goes…

Was feeling a little silly:

Typically, I would pick the few best photos from the mini OOTD photo shoot and present them here.  But I was having so much fun and so excited to be resurrecting the OOTDs, that I’m including them all—ridiculous fun.

This one is my favorite.  See if you can spot the surprise in the background.

Boots:  Matisse

Shirt: Michael Stars from Scout and Molly’s.

Dress: from Radiance (Indie shop on Hilton Head Island)

Necklace:  Purchased on the street in Mexico City.

betsy & iya: What I would have worn with this… The Desert Landing Hoop.

Time of my life.

Outfits are BACK.

Outfit of the Day: Will gets sassy.

Monday, May 30th, 2011

A little while ago, I shot some OOTD pics of Will.  I thought he was going to fight it, but it turns out he was a natural.

Here, he is working hard in the back room; probably, he’s building some sort of wild spreadsheet art.  He’s very talented.  Y’all should check out his gallery some time.

A few years ago, when we started officially dating, he grew a beard.  Apparently, I had expressed my love for beards somewhere along the way.  He took that and put it all over his face.  And he didn’t take it off until just before these pictures (it’s back on again).  I had no idea I had such an influence on that baby face, but truth is—I love it (like, a lot) either way.

Insert:  Gingham tries to eat my boots:

this will be the only caption of this post: LOOK at that chest. (just imagine little hearts floating around my head).

Then I made him put on a necklace.  I think it looks pretty good on him.  You can find it in our shop by clicking here (or the picture):

Now, he’s sleeping because he stayed up until 3 am (on his “day off,” nonetheless) putting our newest color vintage items up for sale in our shop.  His drive sorta blows my mind sometimes.  It’s infectious.

Then he got sassy.  Honestly, it surprised me that it hadn’t happened sooner.  He’s so good at technical things—things that I find very difficult sometimes—that it’s easy to forget just how funny he is.  That was the first thing that attracted me to him, back when we were just friends.

Now he’s my best friend and my husband…

(who regularly wears TLE, American Apparel, and St John’s teeshirts with cool pants and usually a converse or two thrown in).

I love this guy so much.

Outfit of the Day: Mama.

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

smooth operator. This woman is incredible.

Mother’s Day has come and gone, but my sweet mama has remained in my mind; I guess she always is.  I was gearing up for my promised one OOTD per week and I remembered a very cool outfit that I had not  yet showcased.  This time, though, I can’t take a lick of credit for it.  This is all her:

so much STYLE in one woman! wowza!

love these shoes from Shoefly in Arlington, VA.

I promise she's not being fresh here, she's just showing off her betsy & iya!

She wears a custom initial necklace that I made for her last Mother’s Day and initial stud earrings (found in our physical shop).

Mom is gourmet hot chocolate with a sprinkle of salt on top (on a rainy, cold winter day).  She is a field of wildflowers that my hands graze as the sun warms my smiling face.  She is a glowing lightbulb in a dark dark room.  She is an ice cold beer after a rough day (she’s gonna love that one).  She is focus in a room of chaos.  She is truth climbing out of a pool of fake.  She is the ground and the sky and I am standing right in the middle…right where I’m supposed to be.

so much love.

She is my mother.  And I love her with all my heart.

Happy Mother’s Day, mama!  Always.

Your,  bets

Outfit of the Day: the yellow ladder.

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

betsy & iya has been around for 3 years (+) now.  Sometimes when I look back I think…how in the heck did I get here???  It is true for me that when I’m climbing a tall ladder, if I look down, chances are I’ll probably turn around and go back.  For some reason, with this particular climb, I’ve just kept on going.  A few rungs have wiggled and cracked here and there, shaking me up, yes, but I haven’t let them stop me.

I’ve been in crazy design mode lately.  The awesome pleasure I have of working with amazing people who get things done (Will, Lupe, and Kate + other amazing folks) has afforded me the open time and space I have needed to let the ideas flow.  With that plus the weather, these are the outfits I feel like wearing most days:

Every morning I think…oh this could be an outfit-of-the-day day…and most mornings I end up throwing on my brown cords or slumpy jeans and think…no, this is what I need for design brain.  So I figured it’s only fair that I show you where I’ve been for the past few months.  Cheating, maybe, but this is an accurate OOTD for the time being.

Pants: years old J. Crew staple

Shirt: Forever 21

Headband: an amazing trade from the Holiday Crafty Wonderland sale (I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the company…I will post as soon as I do)

Boots: Matisse

Earrings: new color vintage, betsy & iya

In addition to the new design project, The Music, we are busy editing (slash: killing) old designs and making room for new ones, like these hot new color vintage pieces:

These color super models will premiere at the Crafty Wonderland Spring show this Saturday and we’ll have them available in our online shop very soon.

In the meantime, we’ll keep on climbing that bright ladder and hope you do the same.

See ya up there.
